Seeing as though everyone and their uncle seems to have an awards ceremony nowadays, Ive decided to bring together a definitive list of essential domaining utilities / sites and other online resources that every domainer, from your common or garden n00b to your seasoned professional, should have bookmarked as a matter of course. And best of all, it will be the first non-biased, non-sponsored award – by the people and for the people.
Here’s how its going to work. Below you’ll find a short list of my favorite domain related bookmarks, if all you good folk out there could then recommend any ive either overlooked or didnt know about, we’ll shortlist them and create the first annual IIMOIEES “Domain Utility Most Bookmarkable” award / poll / voting process. Ok, not the greatest of award names and for obvious reasons might change. J. However, all the shortlisted candidates will receive a nice T shirt with the final award name emblazoned on the front and, perhaps more importantly, a nice back link, courtesy of yours truly. The rules are simple, the nominated site must be at least partially free, not a domain forum or blog, reasonably unique and, unless exceptional, not an expired domain or available domains site.
Ok. My essential list (in no particular order) reads as follows:
Google’s external keyword tool
Make Words
CopyScape
Alexa.org
DomainTools
Down For Everyone Or Just Me?
DNSLocator
Archive.org
Dictionary.com
Moniker Bulk Domain Checker
Domaining.com
Acronym Finder
Webhosting.info
Webmaster Toolkit

Great resources mentioned here. Estibot.com is also a very useful domainer tool.
https://adwords.google.com/select/TrafficEstimatorSandbox
https://console.prweb.com/prweb/login.php
Love the Traffic Estimator – gives you a great idea what keywords are costing advertisers, so you can get a value on your domain…
PRWEB is great for tooting your own horn about domains that you have just purchased, just developed, have up for auction, just sold…the list goes on. This may be the “best” bookmark, period.
Nice Post – many more great websites can be added to your posted list but overall your post is GREAT – GREAT Stuff
https://adwords.google.com/select/TrafficEstimatorSandbox
My favorite for checking what advertisers are paying for top 3 position on searches with various keywords.
Gives you an idea what value your domain might hold…
http://www.prweb.com/
OK. This might be the very best bookmark!
Always remember to promote yourself and your domains. You can send out press releases for awesome purchases, new web releases, record auction prices, (or just really good ones..), promote upcoming domains headed to auction and target the industry likely to be interested etc…..
Write an awesome article and include your website as the reference.. oh I could go on…
Hi Julia,
We have a pretty good domain section now at SocialBlogroll.com – if you think that makes the grade
http://socialblogroll.com/tag/domaining
Well, it seems like a nice site Nick but I never saw yours truly getting a mention on it.. :p And actually, Im not sure, unless youre the market leader in syndication exactly what additional value yet another syndication site adds to the space..??
Julia, great post!
The only one I could think of not mentioned already in your post or the comments was Kevin Ohashi’s Typo Generator ( http://www.ohashi.us/typo-generator/ ) and maybe the Yahoo/Overture Search Suggestion Tool if it still counts.
Btw if you need help determining a winner, I would be glad to post a poll on NamePros for whatever tools make it to your shortlist. Let me know!
RJ
Perfect, thanks Ron…
I’ll do that later today once ive just done a quick QA on all the suggestions..
Dont forget NameBio and DNJournal
hey julia,
it’s great to see domainers getting together to decide what *they* think is best!
just to blow my own horn a bit, i launched http://www.namehugger.com a while back. the idea is that all the polls/discussions like this one are constantly folded into one top hitlist of domaining bookmarks.
The most popular winners are laid out for an efficient domaining home page – instead of having hundreds of bookmarks to keep track of.
i’ll look forward to giving the winners here a boost in the rankings. and pop your blog on too, of course.
cheers!
Hey Julia,
Just added you as a gatekeeper on the SocialBlogroll system. That means we take your blogroll votes into the system.
What’s the point in another aggregator? Yes I see where you are coming from – but we thought our idea was unique from the many other aggregators out there. We take the blogroll votes from 120+ marketers and domains to power our site. the more votes a site has the higher it ranks. If you now add other domains to your WordPress blogroll here, we will take notice of it in our site.
Besides giving us a community-voted aggregator that also means we can put together a top 100 chart
