Following in the footsteps of Eytan Elbaz, the ex head of Google’s AFD program who recently headed off to do, in his words “something for himself again”, the head of Yahoo’s domain match channel Sean Moriarty has apparently now also left to take up a post at Ken Lawson’s premiumtraffic.com / DDC.com organization. While i’m sure most partners will wish him a bon voyage, im sure others who never got to secure a Yahoo domain match contract will no doubt be more inclined to say “good riddance”.
I met Sean once and have to say that he seemed completely as you’d expect, bright, perceptive, clever, bushy tailed and a general all round good guy. Whilst Eytan’s departure was always on the cards – as would be the departure of any of Google’s first 500 employees, with their share options now being worth more than they could ever earn as a wage (the first Google chef (Charlie Ayres, employee number 53) has $26m) – Sean’s departure comes as more of a surprise. Predominantly because Sean leaving to go to a partner that provides parking services is sure to have created a stir within Yahoo’s other/current partners.
